Water Level Monitoring & IRS Depletion Program

Measuring Water at a Whole New Level

Since 1991, we’ve consistently taken annual measurements of approximately 100 wells. Our staff uses this data to construct hydrographs and monitor the water level trends of the Ogallala Aquifer within the district’s boundaries. If you had a “cost in water” when you purchased your property, you may qualify for Depletion from the IRS. Contact the office to find out more information about this program!

Irrigation Efficiency Tests

Making the Most of Your Water

Is your well or system equipped correctly? Find out by requesting an efficiency test. Using an Ultrasonic flow meter, our staff can conduct flow tests on your well or pivot systems to see how many gallons per minute you are producing. Contact the office today to set up your next flow test.

Water Quality Analysis

Keeping Your Well Water In-Check

With over 25 years of studying the water of Yoakum County, we continue to conduct an annual analysis on approximately 100 wells each summer. We test for seven components: Chloride, Hardness, TDS, Fluoride, Iron, Nitrate and pH. By testing the wells each year, the district is able to monitor quality trends as the Ogallala Aquifer changes over time. Producers and homeowners may request water quality or bacteria tests during the year in addition to the annual program.

Agriculture Loan Program

Financing Tools to Meet Your Water Needs

We provide financing for approved conservation equipment including center pivots, drip irrigation, and sprinkler packages to landowners and producers of Yoakum County. Contact the office for more information.

IS YOUR WELL REGISTERED?

Existing Well Registration

Did you know that our rules require that all existing and new wells be either registered or permitted with the District? Having your well on record with our office helps you in the future. As industry, oil activity, and the population of our county increases, so does the demand for water. Increased demand for water means drilling for more water wells. If we know the location of your well, the District can help protect you. It’s free and easy to register your well. Just download the form below or contact our office for more information.
